Sonora Wings is Arizona’s only full time accredited hang gliding school. We offer tandem hang gliding discovery flights and complete solo hang gliding instruction. Enjoy the experience of hang gliding whether it’s something you have always wanted to do or you just want to cross it off your bucket list.
I’m Mark Knight. I live in Arizona and run Sonora Wings. I started flying hang gliders in 1979. After chasing the wind of Chicago for 3 years I turned to ultralights and flew as much as the weather would allow. There is nothing like enjoying the sky and earth from above. Flying in Arizona is one of the most picturesque and rewarding experiences of a lifetime.
Currently I hold my Basic Instructor Rating and Observer with the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association. I also have my Private Pilots Licence with a tug endorsement.

Hang Gliding:
Hang gliding is the closest you can get to flying like a bird. Over the last 40 years hang gliding has evolved into a very safe sport with dedicated people continuing this purest form of flight.

Discovery Flight:
Call for tandem specials, pricing and packages.
You and your instructor will follow the tug plane up to 2500 feet above the ground where you will release and glide effortlessly riding the thermals and playing in the clear Arizona sky. Depending on thermic conditions, your flight will last typically about 20 minutes.
We also have high definition video available for an additional fee at your request.
What is the dragonfly?:
The Dragonfly was designed for the purpose of towing hang gliders. In its 20 years of use it has become know as the best, safest and easiest way to get airborn in a hang glider. It also makes a fantastic sight seeing machine with almost unlimited viewing in any direction. Come out for a day of aero-towing and see the amazing Bailey Moyes Dragonfly do its thing.
