Skydiving
Sky surfing is a relatively new specialization to the sport of skydiving where the skydiver performs surfing style aerobatics during freefall. The board used is smaller than a surf board and more closely resembles a snowboard. The board is designed to be removable for safety reasons so most skydiving locations do not offer sky surfing.
The aerobatics are a difficult skill to master and include loops, rolls, and helicopter spins. The extra drag on the board forces the skydiver into a balancing act which has to be controlled otherwise they will flip upside down. The easiest way to surf the sky is by standing upright with the nose of the board pointed downward. The sky surfer must be in a stable position before their parachute is deployed.
Skilled individuals have combined the sport of skydiving with snowboarding. The skydiver surfs their way to a mountain with their snowboard already locked in place. Once they reach the appropriate altitude they glide to the mountain side, cut away their chute, and snowboard the mountain.
