First Time Jumpers:
Skydive MoabTM is proud to say we offer the most honest and reliable skydiving services in Moab! Our mission is to provide our customers with the BEST experience possible for your Tandem Skydive! Our skydiving equipment is top of the line, and a beautiful Cessna 182 for a sweet ride up to the top.
Tandem skydiving is today’s most innovative and popular way of making that first jump. Your adventure begins by filling out some paperwork and watching a dvd video explaining the paperwork that you are filling out. After you complete your paperwork, you will meet our staff members and your instructors. They will give you a general overview of your skydive. You will learn how to safely exit the aircraft, freefall techniques, how to fly the parachute and body position during landing. Tandem jumping uses the dual instruction approach similar to learning how to fly an airplane, and your tandem instructor will be there to back you up through all phases of your skydive.
The plane ride lasts about 20-25 minutes from which the views are incredible! On the way up to 10,000 feet above the ground , you will see Moab from a bird’s eye view. You’ll get to see Arches and Canyonland’s National Park, Dead Horse State Park, The Mighty Colorado River which merges with the Green River to form the famous Cataract Canyon. If that’s not breath taking enough, you’ll also see the 3 Mountain Ranges that surround the Moab area, thousands of hiking and mountain biking trails and hundreds of canyons that make Moab famous! Moab is the heart of the beautiful red rock canyon country of southeastern Utah and this will definitely enhance your skydiving experience.
When the time comes to jump, you and your instructor will exit the plane 10,000 feet above the earth where you will feel the exhilaration of free-fall on your very first jump! Most people think you get that roller coaster feeling when jumping from the plane but in most cases, you don’t get that feeling. The free-fall lasts for over 30 seconds and you will reach speeds of up to 120 mph (Terminal Velocity). Most people find it amazing that they feel totally in control when in free-fall.
The wind actually feels like a cushion of air suspending you in space and feels more like floating than falling!
Tandem Student Landing Safe and Sound Once the parachute is opened, you and your instructor will glide gently back to earth. The canopy ride lasts for about 5-9 minutes depending on how fast you like to fly the parachute. The canopy is a rectangular shape similar to the wing of an airplane and completely controllable. You and your instructor can talk to each other very easily on the way down. If conditions are suitable then you may be able to steer the canopy yourself under the supervision of your instructor. This will give you a true feeling of what it is like to skydive by yourself and be in control of your own parachute.
Experienced Skydivers:
Skydive Moab welcomes all skydivers! Please bring your Log Book, your AFF License, and current reserve packing card. You must be a USPA member to jump with us.
Skydive Moab was voted the #1 Cessna Dropzone by Blue Skies Magazine in the 2010 Reader’s Choice Awards! When you come to Skydive Moab, we would like to see you jump as much as possible, but we want to be honest – we are not set up to fully cater to fun jumpers at the moment. We will, however, do our best to get you up on as many loads as possible so you can enjoy the amazing view we have!
Skydive Moab is rapidly expanding and plans have been set in place. We now have our own hangar to store our plane, which will allow us to meet the needs of fun jumpers and make it possible for you to call Skydive Moab your home dropzone!
There is FREE camping in Moab and we recommend going to The Moab Brewery for some great food. There are many near-by restaurants. Local transportation is also available.
Don’t forget that we have an annual Boogie called the M.O.A.B. (Mother Of All Boogies) at the end of September. We bring in Twin Otters and a Skyvan for 4 days and on average there are about 200+ jumpers that come to our event!
