The Royal Gorge Bridge construction was completed in November 1929 in Canon City, Colorado. The suspension bridge is 955 feet above the Arkansas River and is the tallest bridge in the United States. The bridge is 1,260 feet long and suspended from towers 150 feet high. In 2003, the Royal Gorge Bridge lost its title of 74 years as the tallest bridge in the world by the Beipanjiange River 2003 Bridge in China.
An event named the Go Fast Games hosted once a year offers legal BASE jumping during a 3 day period. Go Fast! hosts this event to allow enthusiasts the opportunity to jump legally. The event caters to BASE jumping and bungee jumping. Unfortunately, participation in this event is by invitation only.
